What is Dune: Awakening about?

Dune: Awakening is an open-world survival MMO set in the harsh and iconic sci-fi universe of Dune by Frank Herbert. If you’ve never played a survival game before — or aren’t familiar with Dune — here’s what you need to know:

You play as a custom-created character on the desert planet Arrakis, a world full of political conflict, dangerous factions, and deadly natural threats. This version of the story imagines an alternate timeline where Paul Atreides was never born, and the balance of power on Arrakis is up for grabs.

The gameplay blends survival mechanics with large-scale multiplayer systems. You’ll need to manage basic needs like water, build shelters, survive deadly sandstorms, and avoid being devoured by the massive sandworms that patrol the desert. It’s not just about surviving the environment, though — you’ll be fighting, exploring, harvesting spice (the planet’s most valuable and dangerous resource), and choosing your alliances with major houses like Atreides or Harkonnen.

As you progress, you’ll unlock new abilities — some even enhanced by spice — and take part in everything from PvE exploration to PvP warfare. There’s also a political side: join guilds, influence the galaxy’s ruling council (the Landsraad), and help shape the future of Arrakis.
