Star Wars Outlaws | Delay Sparks Uncertainty

Star Wars Outlaws

Star Wars Outlaws is currently generating immense anticipation as the most awaited game in the Star Wars saga and the most coveted title from Ubisoft. Following the recent releases of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, it’s evident that Star Wars Outlaws will be the next major offering from the publisher. This game represents a significant milestone in the Star Wars universe since Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and the excitement surrounding it is exceptionally high. An intriguing aspect is that, unlike its predecessors, players won’t be stepping into the role of a Jedi. However, a disappointing piece of news has just surfaced, casting a shadow over this enthusiasm.

Star Wars Outlaws: Alteration in the Blueprint?

Caution: the narrative is rather intricate. In a recent and unexpected twist, Disney has disclosed that Ubisoft’s highly anticipated Star Wars Outlaws game will see a delayed release, now slated for the end of 2024 instead of the previously anticipated early 2024 launch. This revelation came to light through a Disney Parks blog post, initially spotted by IGN.

Star Wars Outlaws, positioned as an expansive open-world gaming experience, was initially set to hit the market in the early months of 2024. However, the release has encountered an extension, sparking a range of reactions among fans. The game promises players the opportunity to traverse diverse planets throughout the galaxy, featuring both iconic settings and uncharted territories. Gamers will embody the character Kay Vess, on a quest for freedom and aspiring to embark on a new life, accompanied by the loyal companion, Nix.

To provide some background, Ubisoft had originally slated the release of this action-adventure and role-playing game for the early months of 2024. However, in October of the previous year, the company announced the delay of a “major game” initially set to launch before the end of March 2024. Although Ubisoft did not explicitly mention Star Wars Outlaws, it is widely acknowledged that this announcement pertained to the said title.

This latest “official” delay is undoubtedly disheartening for everyone involved. However, in the interim, after IGN, which initially brought attention to the information, was contacted by Ubisoft, it was clarified that the game would indeed be released in 2024, not specifically “at the end of 2024.” This distinction, subtle yet crucial, raises questions about whether it was a typo on Disney’s blog or a leaked detail that Ubisoft is now attempting to mitigate.

It’s worth noting that the highly respected media outlet Kotaku was also approached by Ubisoft to correct the information, now specifying that the game was slated for a 2024 release. This adjustment, in itself, can imply a lot or very little. All possibilities remain open, but the prospects of the game arriving in the coming months are increasingly uncertain.
